VE @ Keele can now offer one-off volunteer opportunities for students who want to get involved in volunteering activities, but who are time-limited, perhaps due to study or work commitments.

These opportunities enable students to volunteer on an 'as and when' basis rather than to make a more regular time commitment.

Opportunities coming up in the next few weeks will be detailed below. For more information about any of the listed opportunties you should contact Becky at VE @ Keele.

National Make a Difference Day - Saturday 31st October 1pm-4pm

Joint event with local charity VE @ Keele, LoveStoke

& Staffordshire University (TBC)

A team of volunteers is needed for a joint Keele, LoveStoke and Staffordshire University (still TBC) project at the LoveStoke Distribution centre in Fenton for a few hours on National Make a Difference Day.

The distribution centre gets brand new clothing and household goods donated from large companies and these goods need to be sorted through, organised and sent out to people in need across the City.

The centre is always desperate for volunteers to make a dent in the massive pile of goods and to meet the growing nubmer of referrals from people in need across the city.

Interested? Contact Becky at VE @ Keele for more information.

Newcastle Litter Pick - Wednesday 18th November 1pm-3pm

Willing to give up a couple of hours of your time to put something back into the local community?

Joanne Morris, Community Warden for Newcastle has asked for volunteers to take part in a litter pick in the Wolstanton area of Newcastle.

The litter pick is needed in an area at the end of Highfield Avenue, where two paths lead down to the back of Wolstanton Retail Park - Asda, Matalan etc.

It's a straightforward litter pick, although some rubbish will need raking out of bushes.

Also in the area is a car park that has weeds and vegetation up the kerb that we can use a spade on to hopefully scrape away and tidy it up a bit.

About 6 volunteers are needed to get the job done in about an hour.

VE @ Keele will try to arrange a minibus from Keele to Wolstanton, meeting at KUSU at 1pm.

If you would like to take part, contact Becky at VE @ Keele.

Fordhall Farm - Keele Volunteers who are taking part in this event during the weekend of 7th November can get a lift in the KUSU minibus leaving Keele at 4pm on Friday 6th and returning to Keele from Fordhall at 4pm on Sunday 8th November.

Contact Becky at VE @ Keele if you are volunteering at Fordhall on this weekend and would like a lift.

Please ensure you have booked your place at Fordhall first and have been given all the relevant details from Fordhall before getting on the minibus!
