Capoeira is a physical art form that originates with the introduction of African slaves to Brazil. Developed as a means to disguise fighting, it involves aspects of music, rhythm, deception, dancing, humour and physical movement. Our instructor is Professor Leandro who originates from Sao Paolo and is one of the founders of Art Brasil, a Brazilian cultural organisation, based in Burslem. Capoeira is more than a society, more than an exercise class, it is a sub-culture that symbolizes freedom of expression.
