SmartWater is a colourless liquid solution that is simply dabbed onto the uneven surfaces of your valuables. It can be used to code all sorts of items such as jewellery, ornaments, electrical items and even your motor vehicle. Each bottle contains a unique chemical ‘code’ which is registered to you – conclusively proving ownership.  It cannot be easily seen by the naked eye and is almost impossible to remove.  The liquid glows under ultraviolet light making it easy for the Police to detect. The Police use it in undercover operations to catch and convict criminals.  Criminals know about SmartWater and fear its power to forensically link them with the scene of a crime. So, by coding your valuables and displaying the SmartWater deterrent signs, you are sending out a powerful warning to any thieves and burglars operating in your area.

"Ensuring a Safe & Secure Environment"

KUSU Security is always on hand within the building during its opening times. This is to guarantee the safety of its customers, guests and staff. The Security Office is located on the ground floor of the Student Union.

During the evening when there can be up to 1800 people enjoying a “night out” within the building we have a number of other measures to help keep safety within the building to a premium: Experienced SIA licensed door supervisors, an experienced first aid team, stewarding team and safety bus. Our very approachable security team are always on hand to offer advise and support.

KUSU Code of Conduct

KUSU has a code of conduct and venue regulations in place in order to provide a safe environment for all. As an alternative to KUSU licensees solely making decisions on any breaches of the code of conduct and other polices on the premises (or in the environs) of the Students’ Union, KUSU has a disciplinary proccedure in relation to deal with student indiscipline .Students involved in any contravention of the Code of Conduct or other behaviour considered inappropriate are generally issued with a disciplinary card, telling them when to report to a hearing.
