On Campus Housing

The IAU deals with approximately 1,000 accommodation related issues in a year.

Having problems with your room / block / post / Mould / security / repair problems?

Why not see if the IAU can help? Tel. 34800 or email independent.advice.unit@keele.ac.uk

You can also contact the Residential Managers who are responsible for the welfare and discipline of students in Halls and supervise Resident Tutors who should be on hand to help in the evenings (5pm to 8.45pm) and at weekends.

What do I do if something needs fixing in my Halls of Residence?

All blocks should be provided with a book - usually located in the hallway/entrance area - for students to report general maintenance issues. These books are checked daily (except Sundays) by the Hall Stewards and repairs are either carried out by the Stewards (i.e. replacements light bulbs) or passed on to Estates and Buildings as appropriate. Urgent matters can be reported directly to the Housekeeper in each Hall. (All Housekeepers work Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. with the exception of Horwood Hall: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) Outside the above times, urgent maintenance issues can be reported to the Security Lodge in the Darwin Building.

If nothing has been resolved this way contact the IAU who can put your case to Keele Commercial Facilities Management (CFM). Keep notes of all the contacts you have with CFM, this will help if there is a problem.
