The Ballroom
The KUSU Ballroom holds 1100 punters, a 40’ x 20’ Stage, 12,000 watts of banging JBL Sound System, tonnes of steel rigging and enough Intelligent Lights to outscore the techies who operate them in an IQ test!! If that wasn’t enough, the sprung dance floor gives you an extra 0.4% hang-time when dancing!
As you may, or may not, be aware the KUSU building was originally designed to look like a ship with the Ballroom at the heart of the vessel. On its maiden voyage, the building boasted the biggest purpose-built Entertainment venue in Staffordshire. In fact, the Rolling Stones used to use the Ballroom as a rehearsal room and kept good company with the likes of the Eurythmics, UB40, Oasis and a young Jarvis Cocker amongst those to grace the stage.
And now the legacy continues. Whilst the building may no longer look like a ship, the Ballroom still holds host to some of the biggest names in the music industry today.
Recent chart toppers have included The Fun Lovin' Criminals, Idlewild, Mis-Teeq, Faithless, Dirty Pretty Things, CSS, Toploader, Reef, The Pet Shop Boys, Levellers, Gomez, The Stranglers, The Enemy, Razorlight, The Music, The Twang, Pigeon Detectives, The Hoosiers, Less than Jake…the list goes on!
