IMPORTANT INF0RMATION - EXAMINATION PERIOD COMMENCING MONDAY 11TH JANUARY 2010

As you will no doubt be aware, the UK has been experiencing adverse
weather conditions over the last few weeks, which have caused some traffic
disruption and these conditions are forecast to continue into next week.

Since the semester one examination period commences this coming Monday 11
January, we strongly recommend that if you live outside the Keele area
that you return to your campus or local accommodation at the earliest
opportunity, to minimise the risk of you not being able to return in time
to attend your first scheduled examination.  Please avoid leaving this
until the last possible day.

On the day of your examinations, you should allow plenty of additional
time to reach your examination venue on time, in case of any traffic
disruption on that day.

If you are unable to travel to Keele and therefore miss an examination,
you can apply to your School for consideration of extenuating
circumstances, by completing the form titled Form for notifying
boards of examiners of extenuating circumstances, available at the
following web link:

http://www.keele.ac.uk/depts/aa/newacadregpages/forms/extenuatingcircumstancesOctober2009.doc

There are guidance notes attached to that form, which provide additional
information on this process. However, please note that this is a last
resort and the University expects you to make every reasonable effort to
attend all of your examinations. You would have to provide dated
evidence, when submitting this form to your School, that your travel to
Keele was not possible (e.g. copies of traffic/weather reports from the
web, cancellation notices for trains/coaches etc) and that no alternative
day or mode of travel was possible (for instance, pre-booked train
tickets).  Please also note that the granting of extenuation is not
guaranteed and will be considered on an individual basis.

If the Examinations Office has emailed you in December to put in place
special provision for your examinations (i.e. you are NOT taking your
examination in one of the main examination venues) and you cannot attend
one of your examinations, you should contact them as soon as you know that
you cannot attend by emailing the Examinations Office at exams@keele.ac.uk

Otherwise, you do NOT need to contact them.

We are hoping that the above points will answer any queries you may have.
However, please contact your School in the first instance if you have any
further queries.
